And the Year of The Women Continues!!!

“I congratulate you on the victory, the path to which you faced many obstacles to overcome,” Lee Myung-bak said as he congratulated the First Female to be a leader of South Korea, Park Geun-Hye!

How extremely exciting is this?!

Park Geun-Hye, is the daughter of former leader Park Chung-Hee. She defeated  Moon Jae-in with over 52% of the votes, with over 80% of the votes in.

I don’t know a lot about Park Guen-Hye, but I can’t wait to learn more about her as she takes her seat as leader in February. As the first woman to be elected to a male dominated nation, her leadership will be looked at very closely, simply because she is a woman. I for one will be sending her thoughts of strength as she goes through these next 5 years. As Lee Myaun-bak said, she has overcome many obstacles, and I know that there will be more ahead.

She has made promises to bring South Korea out of economic decline as well as strengthen diplomatic relations with N.Korea. Two things that I personally would like to see happen for South Korea. Only time will tell.
