Malala Yousufzai ……..#MonarchButterfly
My heart is over joyed at the news that 14 year old Peace Activist from Pakistan, Malala Yousufzai is in stable condition and that doctors have been with her around the clock. She is still critical, but stable. We posted the article of her assassination attempt on our Facebook page after the report of what happened reached the media.
I have been praying for her and her family every since I heard what happened. I had to fight back tears after reading this story and seeing the pictures of this beautiful young woman being rushed to the hospital. I can’t even comprehend the level of evil that could do such a thing.
We’re posting updates of her condition and soliciting prayers everyday on our Facebook page. The Butterfly Bridge is also changing it’s social media profile pictures to Malala’s in support of her recovery. You can also read the latest from CNN.com .
I am also giving Malala the title of #MonarchButterfly (Queen Butterfly). This title is bestowed to women and young girls around the world who are/have changed the course of their atmosphere and history through their works for the betterment of humanity. Malala has done just that. Even after terrorists gunned her down for speaking out for peace, freedom and empowerment of girls, young girls in Pakistan are not backing down from obtaining their educations. Because of the young Peace Prize winner, Pakistan will never be the same.
They are not letting fear keep them from being empowered. Even the young girls in her area that witnessed the act are not letting what happened deter them. In fact, what has happened to Malala has inspired more people, male and female, in Pakistan to empower women.
That is not a testament to what happened to her; that is a testament to her life! Her courage has united a country to fight for the empowerment of women and girls and the need to rid society of gender dominance and fear.
Since our #InspirationalButterfly, June Jordan, is a poet, I thought it fitting to coranate our first #MonarchButterfly with a poem that I wrote specifically for her and the women and young girls around the world she has touched, inspired, and encouraged with her blog and her courage.

Blessings, Love and Peace to you today and everyday!
